    Saving money through energy efficiency

With the UK’s major energy suppliers bumping up their prices by up to 18% this winter, the belated arrival of the cold winds represents a great opportunity to look at ways of cutting your fuel bills.

    Saving money through energy efficiency

This video from the BBC shows a Victorian house in London which has been fitted with high performance wall insulation, double glazed sash windows, LED lights in the kitchen, and solar hot water and PV panels on the roof.

It all adds up to a 50% reduction in their gas and electricity bills.

    Don’t get conned!

The trading standards institute is investigating complaints from people who have been sold an energy saving plug by someone pretending to be affiliated with their energy company. They claim the plug, which they sell for £99 cuts energy use from the socket by 40%. The device is a phony and indeed is a fire and electrocution hazard.
